Mr. Eddie Trevio, Sr., born May 20, 1931 in San Benito, Texas, entered into eternal rest at his home on Friday, June 19, 2009. A longtime Rio Grande Valley businessman, he was the owner of Trevios Furniture since 1965 in Brownsville and McAllen and previously owned Trevios Restaurant in Brownsville, recognized by Texas Monthly as home of the famous flour tortillas.

Mr. Trevio was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, having attained the rank of Sergeant. He loved his family, his grandchildren and his work and enjoyed reading and politics. In recent years, when not meeting and taking care of his customers at his stores, he and his wife could be found watching their novelas or CNN.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Concepcion Moya Trevio and Juan Trevio; three sisters, Evila Trevio Garcia, Elvita and Evelia Trevio and three children, Evangelina Nena Trevio, Ernie Trevio and Esteban Trevio.

Mr. Trevino is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Evangelina Guerrero Trevino; his sons, former Brownsville Mayor Eddie Patricia Trevino, Jr. and Erick Diana Trevino; grandchildren, Elyssa, Steven, Emily, Talisa and Joaquin Trevino; his sister, Janie Lopez and a brother, George Maggie Trevino; numerous nieces and nephews and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Enrique Guerrero, Jesus Dinorah Guerrero, Mary Revilla and Estela Francisco Rodriguez.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2009 at the Darling-Mouser Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will resume at 6:00 p.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at St. Luke Catholic Church with burial to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Military Honors will be conducted by the members of the American Legion and the VFW Post at the graveside

Mr. Trevinos family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the following physicians and their staff for their attention and care during his final years: Dr. Roberto Robles, Dr. Willie Teo-ong, Dr. Humberto de la Vega, Dr. Balesh Sharma, Dr. Karen Brooks-Searle and Dr. Eric Barron.
