Edward Charles Sachs, 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Brownsville, Texas in the morning on January 1, 2011.
Born on September 6, 1924 in Chicago, Ed spent most of his early life in Illinois. He served in the 5th Division as a Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Following military service, he received a degree in business from Monmouth College. He worked in furniture sales and had a passion for hunting and fishing. In 1955, he married Rosalie Kirt of North Chicago, and together they had seven daughters. In 1983, he moved to Brownsville, Texas where he lived for the remainder of his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1995. He is survived by his brothers, Donald Sachs of Rapid City, SD, Charles Sachs, Jr. of Naples, FL, and sister, Jeanne Banes of Waukegan, IL seven daughters, Joan Wiley of Brownsville, TX, Laurie Terry Ray of Brownsville, TX, Marilynn Belmont of Sarasota, FL, Gayle Mike Craig of Vernon Hills, IL, Terri Carl Schmidt of Mission Viejo, CA, Carol Sachs Carson Krook of Brownsville, TX, Amy Jesse Minton of Arlington, TX, seventeen grandchildren, and two greatgrand children.
Visitation will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, at DarlingMouser Funeral Home East Chapel with the recitation of the holy rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, at Mary Mother of the Church. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff of House Calls and A Better Choice health care agencies. A very special thanks to Rosario Luna Jack and her family, whose loving care and kindness afforded Ed dignity and respect in the final years of his life.
