Elizabeth Medina, 53, of Brownsville, Texas, loving daughter, sister, and aunt, passed away on November 26, 2016 at Valley Baptist Medical Center. Elizabeth was born in June of 1963 in Brownsville, Texas, to Jose Medina II and Maria De Lourdes De Leon. She attended Webb Elementary and graduated from kindergarten and High School Life Skills Unit. She belonged to Immaculate Conception Cathedral Church and Holy Family Church. Elizabeth loved family, prayer, social events, family outings, music, shopping, gambling and novelas.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her father, Jose Medina; her maternal grandparents: Rosa S. and Gaspar De Leon Sr.; her paternal grandparents: Jose and Hortencia Medina; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Elizabeth is survived by her loving mother: Maria de Lourdes Medina, her loving aunts: Maria Elena De Leon, Rosa De Leon and Eva Alcala; her brothers and sisters: Jose (Connie), Elena (Carlos), Ricardo (Hilda), Gustavo, Lourdes (Rene), Guillermo (Yolanda), Marco (Brook), and Jessica and many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Elizabeth was uniquely special; she taught everyone who knew her important life lessons more than anyone could ever teach you; humility, loyalty, love, kindness, and gentleness. Being around her made you want to be a better person and helped put in perspective what really matters in life. No matter how hard life was for her she remained positive and pure, as she worked hard to overcome her daily life struggles. She was loved by many, especially her mother and loving devoted aunts: Elena De Leon, Rosa De Leon, and Eva Alcala.
Visitation will start at 1:00 p.m. today, Monday, Nov. 28, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2405 E. Tyler St, and continue through 9:00 p.m., with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. this evening at Holy Family. Visitation will resume at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2405 E. Tyler St., Brownsville, Texas 78520. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Jessica Medina, Gustavo Medina, Guillermo Medina, Carlos Cano Jr., Marco Medina, Peter Salazar, Chris Cisneros, and Amanecio Cantu are honored to be serving as her pallbearers. Her brothers: Jose Medina III and Ricardo Medina along with her uncles: Gaspar, Humberto and Angel De Leon will serve as honorary pallbearers.
