Elodia Tana Tijerina, 73, of Brownsville, Texas, our beloved sister, aunt, and friend entered into the glory of her eternal life on Friday, March 9, 2012 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
After graduating from Pan American University, she became an elementary school teacher in Brownsville. She retired as a school teacher and devoted her life caring for her parents.
Elodia loved to travel and meet people, especially in San Pedro, Texas, where she lived. She also loved to watch basketball and cheer her favorite team, the San Antonio Spurs, on to victory.
Elodia was preceded in death by her parents, Tomas and Estefana Tana Tijerina and two brothers, Tomas Raul and Alberto Alfonso Tijerina.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her are her brother, Juan Antonio Lidia Flora Tijerina her sistersinlaw, Rosa F. Tijerina and Celina L. Tijerina and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Viewing will begin at 4:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2012 in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser. The recitation of the holy rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening.
The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 16, 2012 at San Pedro Catholic Church in San Pedro, Texas. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Brownsville.
Tomas Raul Tijerina Jr., Dr. Alberto A. Tijerina, Tomas Tom Tijerina, Robert Garza, Jose JC Mandujano, and David Garcia are honored to be serving as Elodias pallbearers.
