Eloy Roberto Rivera

It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Eloy Roberto Rivera, 87, at his residence on Thursday, April 13, 2017.

Eloy was preceded in death by his parents, Cecilia and Rumaldo Rivera and a sister, Estela Rivera Pompa.

Eloy is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ninfa Gorena Rivera, his five children: Eloy Robert (Dolly) Rivera, Eduardo "Ed" Rivera, Rebecca (Stephan) Heller, Edwin (Cristy) Rivera, and Renee (Rob) Bocanegra; his 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Fabian (Mary Helen) Rivera. Eloy will also be missed by his nieces, nephews and numerous extended family. Ever the servant of God, Eloy exemplified the true meaning of Christianity every day with his love. He adored his wife and children and always put them first. He served honorably in the Korean War and was a true patriot of our nation. Fishing was his passion and he enjoyed it most when he was with his children.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017 in the East Chapel at Darling- Mouser Funeral Home. All services will conclude Friday evening and cremation will follow.

The interment of his cremated remains will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Rio Grande Valley Veterans State Cemetery, 2520 S. Inspiration Rd. , Mission, Texas 78572

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Mr. Rivera's name may be made to Hooked for Life-Kids Gone Fish'n, c/o 1800 E. Van Buren St., Brownsville, Texas 78520.
