Elva G. Arteaga, 89, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family after a valiant battle against Alzheimers.
Elva was a woman of faith, the heart and soul of the Arteaga family. She was a lifetime member of El Principe de Paz Church.
Elva was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Remberto Arteaga Sr., her parents, Leonardo and Adela Garcia, and her grandchild, Miroslava C. Barrera.
Elva is survived by her sisters, Ester Limon, Elida Saldivar, and Elsa Guerrero two brothers, Salvador and Ruben Garcia her nine children: Remberto Delia, Reynaldo Oralia, Ruben Linda, Martha Ben Castillo, Raul Berta, Miroslava Ricardo Barrera, Margot Dene Jacobson, Mabel John Zielinski, and Myrna Garza a mentored son, Alfonso Mendieta 30 grandchildren 27 greatgrandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin Friday, Dec. 5th at 1:00 p.m. and continue through 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6th at DarlingMouser. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Elvas grandsons: Remberto, Reynaldo Jr., Anthony, and Ricardo Arteaga, Remmy Castillo, Christopher Jacobson, Zakary Tullos, and Nephtali Alonzo Jr. are honored to be serving as her pallbearers.
The family is deeply grateful to the outpouring of love, prayers, and support throughout her illness. Great appreciation to Dr. Habet, Dr. Gaitan, Gentiva Hospice, her RN Mari Martinez, and CNN Nancy Rey. Special thanks to her three long term caregivers, Adelita Reverin, Maria Balderas and Yolanda G. Martinez.
