Elvira M. Gutirrez, 91, beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and sister entered into the glory of her eternal life on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville surrounded by her loving family.
A native of Dr. Gonzalez, Nuevo Leon, Mxico, she had been a resident of Brownsville for over 50 years. Elviras passions in life were spending time with her family, playing Chalupa, going to the beach, and crocheting. A devout Catholic she was a parishioner of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. She was a member of Amigos del Valle and enjoyed the time that she spent at their functions. She will be greatly missed by those fortunate to have known her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Angel S. Gutirrez and by her son, Mario Gutirrez.
Left behind to eternally treasure her memory are her children; Nery Gutirrez Hardman Robert, Jose Angel Christina Gutirrez, Omar H. Margarita Gutirrez, and Magdalena Jose Arturo Camacho; her daughter-in-law, Beatrice Gutirrez; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She will also be dearly missed by her brothers and sisters: Tomas Martinez, Higinio Martinez, Maria Martinez Elizondo, Lydia M. Smith, Hilda, Socorro, and Roberto Martinez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 2, 2009 and continue through 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening in the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Elviras grandsons: Oscar Senz, Mario Alberto Gutirrez, Omar Gutirrez, Miguel Gutirrez, Kino Gutirrez, Joey Camacho, and Kris Gutirrez, are honored to be serving as pallbearers for their grandmother.
