Elvira P. Harris, 87, joined God's legion of angels on July 28, 2016 at VBMC in Brownsville. She was born in El Grullo, Jalisco, Mexico.
Elvira was preceded in death by her father, Jesus Pelayo; mother, Maria Ramona Galicia Pelayo; a sister, Lupita Olson; and a son-in-law, Police Commander (Ret.) Randy Dunn.
Elvira is survived by her children: Elizabeth "Lizzie" H. Dunn, Jess (Anne) Harris, Raul Olson, Maria Elvira Ahumada, Maria F. "Kika" (Carlos) Serna, Marcy O. ( Joe) Pena, Alma (Ret. Col. Ed) Gutierrez, and extended family Craig Perrin. Grandchildren: Erica Gonzalez, Joseph Parra, Jennifer Vasquez, Jessica Guth, Brandon Harris, Nathaniel Harris, Melissa Serna, Rose Garcia, Tiffany A. Wilson, Austin R. Pena, Marisela Stocks, Christina Gutierrez; 9 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
After retiring from Carling Switch she enjoyed traveling, her garden, cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2016, and continue through 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Dr., Brownsville. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Family members are honored to be serving as Elvira's pallbearers.
Elvira's family would like to thank Dr. Perez Enriquez and Dr. Jesus Ortiz and all the staff at Valley Baptist Medical Center for the wonderful and compassionate care that they provided to her.
