Elvira Jimenez Salinas, 85, our beloved mother, motherinlaw, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister, aunt, and friend entered into the glory of her eternal life on Sunday, January 8, 2011 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Salinas a native of Pihuamo, Jalisco, Mexico had been a resident of Brownsville for numerous years. Elvira was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who gave her all for her family. Her favorite pastimes were playing Bingo and spending time with family and friends when she would serenade them by singing. She was a founding member and longtime parishioner at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. A devout Catholic, Elvira had a strong devotion to the rosary and prayed her rosary daily. Elvira was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all those fortunate to have known her.
Elvira was preceded in death by her parents, Augustin and Juanita Jimenez her husband, Eduardo C. Salinas a son, Eduardo Salinas Jr., and a brother and sisterinlaw, Abel and Juanita Jimenez and two brothersinlaw, Simon Villarreal and Felix Garza.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her are her children: Maria G. Isaac Saldaa, Juan Ramon Barbara Salinas, Graciela Fernando Cisneros, Georgina Andres SalinasTorres, and Esteban Salinas sixteen grandchildren and fifteen greatgrandchildren. She will also be missed by her four sisters: Mercedes Villarreal, Sara Garza, Guadalupe and Hermelinda Jimenez four brothers: Eluterio Jimenez, Augustin Jimenez, Mario Jimenez, and Antonio Jimenez and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, with the funeral Mass scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2645 Tulipan St.
Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens. Juan Ramon Salinas, Esteban Salinas Sr., Isaac Saldaa Sr., Andres Torres, Isaac Saldaa Jr., and Esteban Salinas Jr. are honored to be serving as Mrs. Salinas pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be: Antonio and Mario Jimenez, Eduardo and Juan Ramon Salinas, Fernando Cisneros Jr., and Reynaldo Villarreal.
