Emma Cisneros Fangmann

Emma Cisneros Fangmann passed away peacefully on August 26, 2014 in Allen, Texas. She was 88 years old.

Emma was born in Brownsville in 1925. She was the proud daughter of the late Jose Maria Cisneros and Margarita Hinojosa Cisneros. She was the second child of 7 children, and the oldest daughter. She attended Brownsville High School and graduated in 1945. Emma grew up in a white woodframe house on Filmore Street, where her father was a small grocery store owner. As a teenager, she learned the family business while helping her father in the store. There she developed an extraordinary work ethic and worked tirelessly until the age of 80 as a bookkeeper for various businesses.

In 1961, Emma married her husband, Jim, a grain farmer and truck driver from Iowa. He was a widower with two children and she selflessly embraced her new role as a mother. The couple had 3 more children, one who died in infancy. Emma and Jim were married for 52 years until his death in 2013. She always looked forward to the holidays, when she would prepare lavish and sumptuous feasts for the family. Emma was a passionate seamstress and gardener. Often, she was seen outside tending to her plants and flowers. When she was not gardening, she was sewing dresses for herself and her family.

Emma was fully devoted as a wife and mother and reared each of us with unconditional love. While she let us live out our lives, she was always there for us, encouraging us in our struggles, cheering for us in our triumphs. She held on tightly to her Christian faith and always trusted in our Lords never ending mercy and provision. A model to us all, Emma was tremendously generous in spirit and wealth. Emmas memory and legacy will live on.

Emma is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Jim Fangmann her infant son, John Henry Fangmann her parents, Jose Maria Cisneros and Margarita H. Cisneros beloved aunt, Gregoria Pura Hinojosa sister, Margarita Maggie Montalvo and two brothers, Edmundo Cisneros and Oscar P. Cisneros.

Survivors include her children, Karl Mary Fangmann, Elaine Paul Muehe, Theresa Tim Plocica, and Margaret Kevin Seaweard two sisters, Benilde C. Bennie Abel Salazar and Hortencia C. Tencha Tijerina, a brother, Jose M. Joe Lupita Cisneros ten grandchildren, ten greatgrandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 21014 in the East Chapel at Darling Mouser Funeral Home in Brownsville, Texas. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
