Ena Verla Cooper was called home on Monday, November 5, 2007. She passed peacefully at her home. She was born on October 31, 1906, in Guanaja, Bay Island, Honduras, CA.
Ena lived in Port Isabel for many years, and moved to Brownsville in 1965 where she continued to live until her death at the age of 101. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and sewing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Capt. John Waldemar Cooper, daughter, Grace E. Feurtado, grandson, Michael H. Feurtado, two sisters, Isabell Kirkconnell and Esther McNab, four brothers, Hervey, Valentino, Kenneth, and Roy Hunter. She is survived by one sister, Muriel Borden of Guanaja, Honduras, three grandchildren, Fred, Jr., John Walter, and Dean Christopher Alma Feurtado, one great-grandchild, Brooke Elizabeth, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will begin, Thursday, November 8, 2007 at 12noon with a service beginning at 2p.m., in the Chapel of Darling-Mouser and burial to follow to Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Fred Feurtado, Jr., John Walter Feurtado, Dean Christopher Feurtado, Baxter Kirkconnell, Ted Kirkconnell and Wavell Kirkconnell.
