Enedelia Saenz Vela

BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Enedelia Saenz Vela entered into eternal rest on Christmas Day, Sunday, the 25th of December 2022 in the comfort of her Brownsville residence surrounded by her loving family. She was eighty-eight years of age.

Enedelia was born in Agualeguas, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on July 24,1934, daughter of Fructoso Saenz and Aracelia Vela. She later moved to Brownsville, Texas and worked in retail in the 1960s. After being promoted to manager and purchasing the business, she owned and operated Las Gueras, Inc., a discount variety store in the downtown area, from 1976 to 2009. Over the years, Las Gueras, Inc. received numerous awards for being one of the top five retailers in lottery sales. After her retirement, Enedelia took up needle point and knitting.

Preceding Enedelia in death were her parents, Fructoso Saenz and Aracelia Vela Saenz; and her brother, Fructoso Saenz.

Survivors include her loving son, Jaime Ibarra Saenz (Olga Lydia); her grandchildren, Amanda Nani Ibarra and Jaime Alejandro Ibarra; and her sisters, Famelisa Ibarra and Elma Villarreal.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, the 4th of January 2023 between the hours of one o’clock in the afternoon and nine o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Wednesday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ten o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 5th of January 2023 at the historic Immaculate Conception Cathedral, 1218 E. Jefferson Street, Brownsville. Entombment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville.
