Enriqueta "Queta" Acosta


Enriqueta Queta Acosta, 52, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, and friend entered into the glory of her eternal life on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas surrounded by her family.

Queta as she was affectionately known was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. Queta touched the lives of many as a teacher for the B.I.S. D. for 27 years all of them at Gladys Porter High School where she taught Math. She was looking forward to December and her impending retirement.

Left behind to eternally treasure her memory is her husband of 20 years, Mario Alberto Acosta; her son, Mario Alberto Jr., and her daughter Kayla Yasmin; her beloved parents, Oscar C. and Socorro Gonzalez; her brother, Oscar Gonzalez Jr., her sisters: Dora and her husband Nick Serrata and their daughters, Adriana who was also Quetas goddaughter and Briana; Pati and her husband Ruben Valdez and their daughters, Mayte and Daniela; Norma and her husband Julio Martinez and their daughters Krizia and Katia; and Lorena and her husband Marco and their children Marco Jr. and Yanel. She will also be dearly missed by her mother-in-law, Carmen Rosas; her sister-in-law Aurora del Carmen and her daughter Estefani; and her brothers-in-law, Sostenes Raul, and Victor David and his wife Laura and their children Mariana and Emmanuel.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday, July 27, 2008 and continue through 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday evening in the East chapel of Darling-Mouser. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2007 at St. Lukes Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Dr. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens. Quetas brothers-in- law, Marco Hernandez, Julio Martinez, Nick Serrata, and Ruben Valdez along with her cousins, Alfonso Gonzalez and Efrain Hinojosa are honored to be serving as her pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be her brother Oscar Gonzalez Jr. and the rest of her cousins.
