BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Ernestina Quintana Loya entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, the 21st of November 2023 in the comfort of her Brownsville residence surrounded by her loving family. She was one hundred and three years old.
Ernestina was born in Mexico on August 26, 1920, daughter of the late Manuel and Guadalupe Hernandez de Quintana. She was a longtime resident of Brownsville, Texas, where she was a member of Shamma Christian Center (Centro Cristiano Shamma). Some of her pastimes included reading, studying the bible, and praying for the needs of others.
Preceding Ernestina in death was her loving and devoted husband, Eugenio Loya, Sr.; her son, Juan Antonio Loya; her parents, Manuel Quintana and Guadalupe Hernandez de Quintana; and her siblings, Ramon, Manuel, Agustin Alcala, and Guadalupe Quintana.
Survivors include her children Pastor Eugenio Loya, Jr. (Alma), Maria Guadalupe Cortez (Martin), and Maria de los Angeles Loya; her grandchildren Gene Anthony Loya (Cristina), Johnny Loya (Mari), Erica Garcia (Leo), Ivette Ureste, Marcos Loya (Laura), and Isaac Loya; and her great-grandchildren Amber Loya, Juan Loya, Julian Loya, Aidan Jay Villarreal, and Tristan Vardeman; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, the 29th of November 2023 between the hours of twelve noon and nine o’clock at night, with a service to begin at seven o’clock Wednesday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
A Chapel Service will be held at twelve noon on Thursday, the 30th of November 2023. Entombment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at the Buena Vista Burial Park Mausoleum, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville.
Honored to serve as her pallbearers will be Gene Anthony Loya, Isaac Loya, Marcos Loya, Martin Cortez, Noe Alcala, and Aidan Jay Villarreal.
