Esmeralda L Leal

Mrs. Esmeralda Lerma Leal, 80, our beloved wife, sisterinlaw, aunt, and friend entered into the glory of her eternal life after a brief battle against cancer on Sunday, November 4, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Esmeralda, a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville, was a very giving and generous person. She loved to travel especially to Louisiana where she would visit the local casinos and invariably she befriended everyone traveling with them either by plane or bus. Esmeralda never met a stranger.

A devout Catholic, Esmeralda was a longtime parishioner at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She also served as a volunteer with Casa Romero. Esmeralda was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by those fortunate to have known her.

Esmeralda was preceded in death by her parents: Emilia and Jose Lerma Jr. a sister, Socorro L. Ramirez two brothers: Juan Jose and Efrain Lerma her mother and fatherinlaw, Matilde G. and Ysidro Leal a sisterinlaw, Lucky Leal and a brotherinlaw, Luis Lucio.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her is her loving and devoted husband of 55 years Ramon G. Leal her sisters and brothersinlaw, Carmen Lerma, Maria Lerma, Consuelo L. Lucio, Manuel G. Leal, Arminda Merced Burnias, and Fermin Chita Leal and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Visitation will begin today, Monday, November 5, 2012, from 3:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening. The Funeral Mass will be AT 12 Noon on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at San Pedro Catholic Church, 7602 Old Military Road. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Honored to be serving as Esmeraldas pallbearers are: Dr. John Lerma M.D., Chris and Larry Torres, Sonny Villarreal, Merced Burnias Jr., and Manuel Lucio. John and Rose Marie Leal will serve as honorary pallbearers.
