BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Esmeralda “Tia Merry” Muñiz Almanza, 72, of Brownsville, Texas, lifetime loving sister, aunt, and devoted friend entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville.
Esmeralda was born on May 18, 1948 in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico to her parents, Francisca Muñiz Almanza and Manuel Almanza. She spent most of her life in Brownsville, Texas and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Parish. She helped support her family by working at the former Tradewinds Shrimp Processing Company for many years. An avid dreamer, she always pushed everyone to try their best and worked hard to maintain the Almanza family together. Tia Merry was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate enough to have known her.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of Esmeralda are her seven siblings: Paula Ybarra (Eliseo), Gustavo Almanza (Guadalupe), Leticia Almanza, Rosalinda Zoleta (Juan), Elvira Infante (Ernesto), Manuel Almanza (Cristin), and Hector Almanza (Anabel).
The family will gather for private services.
