Mrs. Eulalia Lalita Iniesta, 91, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister entered into the glory of her eternal life on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Ebony Lake Healthcare Center.
A native of Cuba, Lalita came to the United States and her new home in Brownsville in 1973. While she was still in Cuba, she enjoyed getting together with her family and friends to play Loteria. She also enjoyed preparing traditional Cuban dishes and was especially noted for her Congri and Flan. She was an exceptional seamstress who was sought out to sew for family and friends. She also enjoyed crocheting and worked on many wonderful pieces for her family and friends.
After moving to Brownsville, she and her husband lived at the Villa del Sol for 29 years, until her health forced her to move to Ebony Lake. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all those who were fortunate to have known her. She was a devout Catholic, who attended Mass regularly at Immaculate Conception Cathedral or Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death and has now joined her beloved husband, Antonio Toito Iniesta.
Left behind to eternally treasure her memory are her two daughters: Bruni and her husband Jay Alvarez, of Brownsville and Nury and her husband Andres Velazquez, of McAllen; her son, Fernando and his wife Onelia Iniesta, of Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico; the seven grandchildren that were the apple of her eye: Anthony Karen Alvarez, of Brownville; Dr. Allen Dr. Aixa Alvarez, of Jersey City, N.J.; Vivian Richard Tamez, of McAllen; Salvador Velazquez, of Washington, D.C.; Ilyana Gustavo Sierra and Liana Iniesta, both of Miami, FL; and Alejandro Iniesta, of Havana, Cuba. Her memory will also be cherished by her eight great-grandchildren: Alison, Nicolas, Julia, Andrea, Alejandra, Aleina, Fernando, and Matruska; as well as by the five sisters and four brothers that are still living in Cuba.
Visitation and a rosary service were held yesterday in the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at 11:00m a.m. today, Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008 at Darling-Mouser. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be at 3:00 p.m. today, at Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Buena Vista Burial Park. Honored to be serving as Lalitas pallbearers are her sons-in-law, jay Alvarez and Andres Velazquez; her three grandsons Anthony Alvarez, Dr. Allen Alvarez, and Salvador Velazquez; and Richard Tamez.
Lalitas family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Juan Martinez and his staff and to the Staff at Ebony Lake for the kind and compassionate care that was tendered to Lalita while she was in their care.
