Mrs. Eustolia Toya Liendo, 76, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister, aunt, and friend entered into the glory of her eternal life on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Solara Hospital in Brownsville after a valiant battle with Alzheimers Disease.
Toya, as she was affectionately known to all, was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Together with her husband Juan, they owned and operated JMart for several years. Toya was a very happy go lucky person. She always had a smile on her face and she loved everybody and everybody loved her. Toya was a good cook and she loved cooking for her family and friends. Toya loved all animals but she was partial to cats and dogs, especially Poodles. Toya had an extensive Barbie collection. Toya was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by those fortunate to have known her.
Toya was preceded in death by her father, Alfonso Lieck Cortez her mother, Maria Guajardo Lopez and her stepfather, Refugio Lopez two sisters: San Juanita Gonzalez and Maria del Refugio Acton and two brothers: Ramon Esquivel and Roberto Lopez.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her is her husband of 44 years, Juan Liendo her children: Diana L. Villarreal, Johnny Lulu Liendo, Luis Diana Liendo, and Robert R. fiance Aulasa J. Camerlin Liendo ten grandchildren twelve greatgrandchildren a sister, Amelia Tabasco three halfsisters: Lily John Wagner, Lydia Rodolfo C. Reyes, and Olivia Rojas three brothers: Alfonso Manuela Cortez, Alfredo Felipa Cortez, and Sabas Ofilia Cortez three halfbrothers: Reynaldo Mary Lopez, Guadalupe Tere Lopez, and Raul Lopez and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will begin a 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2013, and continue through 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 18, 2013, with the Funeral Mass scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon at St. Lukes Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Drive. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Johnny Liendo, Luis Liendo, Louie Liendo, Tommy Liendo, Carlos Villarreal II, and Oscar Garza are honored to be serving as Toyas pallbearers. Robert Rene Liendo and Jake Liendo will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Toyas name may be made to the Alzheimers Assoc., Rio Grande Valley Region, 222 E. Van Buren 303, Harlingen, TX 78550.
Toyas family would like to express their sincere and heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Ahmad Karkoutly, Brownsville Nursing and Rehab Center, and Solara Hospital for the tender and compassionate care with which they ministered to her. May God continue to bless you as you minister to others.
