Evangelina G. Fuentes, 88, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother entered into the glory of her eternal life on Wednesday, July 09, 2008 at Valley Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, on April 2, 1920 the daughter of Marcelino Gonzalez and Paula Cepeda de Gonzalez. In 1938, she married Arturo Fuentes Garca who preceded her into eternal glory together with a granddaughter, Marisol Fuentes, her son-in-law, Walterio Azuela, two sisters, and four brothers.
Her great devotion to the Catholic Church called her to serve in different ministries in Matamoros and she continued her apostolate in Brownsville as a member of St. Lukes parish for many years.
Left behind to eternally treasure her memory are her children: Martha F. Ruben S. Garca, Arturo Maria Elena Fuentes, Sylvia Walterio Azuela, Enrique Fuentes, Georgina Jorge Gomez, and Laura Esthela Fuentes; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, her sister, Olivia G. de Garza Cantu, and numerous other loving family members.
Visitation and a rosary service were held yesterday at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at 11 a.m. today, Friday, July 11th in the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be today, Friday, July 11th, at 3 p.m. at St. Lukes Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Evangelinas family members are honored to be serving as her pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters and other members of the family.
