Evangelina "Marty" L. Martinez

Evangelina Marty L. Martinez, 82, our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt entered into the glory of her eternal life on Friday, November 27, 2009 in San Antonio, Texas.

She was born in Brownsville, Texas on Sept. 28, 1927 to Refugia Sanchez and Eluterio Lopez. She was a parishioner of St. Josephs Catholic Church where she was an active member of the Legion of Mary. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Bishop Adolph Marx Court 1988. She also served as a volunteer at Good Samaritan Nursing Home.

She lived in Brownsville until 15 years ago when she moved to San Antonio, Texas to be closer to her children.

Evangelina was preceded in death by her parents Refugia and Eluterio Lopez; a brother, Carlos Lopez; and two sisters: Librada Lily de la Rosa and Ismeia Nena Barrientes.

Left behind to eternally treasure her memory are her two daughters: Maria de Jesus Mary Jay Mike Ditch and Bertha A. Mark Wilson; her son, Dr. Joseph Tessie Lopez, M.D.; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren with two on the way, and 1 great-great-grandchild that is on the way; two sisters: Sara Rodriguez and Maria del Refugio Cukui Alfredo Arias, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2009 and continue through 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 Sunday evening in the East chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Liturgical Service of Resurrection will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 30, 2009 at St. Josephs Catholic Church, 555 W. St. Francis St. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Evangelinas son, Dr. Joseph Lopez, MD, and her grandsons: Alfonso A.J. Delgado III, Andrew Delgado, Anthony Lopez, Michael Lopez, and John Perez are honored to be serving as pallbearers for their beloved mother and grandmother.
