Federico S. Fernandez, 84, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville.
Mr. Fernandez was one of 12 children born to Jose Guadalupe and Guadalupe Fernandez in San Benito, Texas on July 26, 1926. He joined the Navy and served his country honorably during World War II. After returning from the war he worked for quite a number of years with Pan American Airways in Miami, Fl as a mechanic supervisor. He will be deeply missed by all those fortunate to have known him.
Mr. Fernandez was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Guadalupe and Guadalupe Salinas Fernandez 4 brothers: Edward, Enrique, Jose, George Fernandez 6 sisters: Maria del Carmen Craven, Maria Elena Delgado, Ana Trevio, Josefina Martinez, Mary Longoria, and Guadalupe Cisneros his first wife, Raquel V. Fernandez 2 sons: Federico Jr. and Alberto Fernandez a grandson, Mark Coats, and his soninlaw, Thomas Coats.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his wife, Yolanda V. Fernandez the children, from his first marriage, Linda Coats, Jose E. Fernandez, Eva Fernandez and Tommy Lulu Coats the children from his second marriage: Enrique Fernandez, Yvonne Carlos Torres, Adriana Rafael Perez, Fernanda Gonzalez, Miriam Casey Bruno, and Myra Gonzalez his grandchildren: Irma Frank Slovak, Alberto Fernandez Jr., Sylvia Enrique Layton, Miriam Fernandez, Rachel Fernandez, Diana Galvan, Ashley Aylin Perez, Sebastian Valerie Torres, and Aiden Bruno his greatgrandchildren: Alberto Fernandez III, Ricky Fernandez, and Enrique Layton his only surviving brother, Luis Fernandez and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2011 and continue through 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 28, 2011 in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. The American Legion Post 43 Funeral Honor Guard under the direction of Commander Raul Leal will be providing military honors at the graveside.
Enrique Fernandez, Rafael Perez, Carlos Torres, Eduardo Espinoza, Danny Leal, Louie Castaneda, are honored to be serving as Mr. Fernandezs pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jose E. Fernandez, Simon Castaeda, Alberto Fernandez Jr., and Frank Slovak.
