BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Felicitas "Lita" Leal, lifelong resident of Brownsville, caring and beautiful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, the 16th of March 2021 at her residence in Brownsville, Texas surrounded by her loving family. She was seventy-nine years of age.
A devout Catholic, Lita was a faithful parishioner Saint Luke Catholic Church where she enjoyed participating in Sunday Mass and would most recently watch Bishop Flores celebrate mass on television. Lita was a secretary at Lopez High School until her retirement from the Brownsville Independent School District. She was a beautiful soul who put up a courageous battle against a terrible foe. She loved life and enjoyed spending time with family at the beach and from time to time enjoyed the bright lights of Las Vegas. In her spare time, she enjoyed needle point while watching her game shows and novelas. Lita was a role model to those who knew her and everyone knew that they could drop by unannounced and be greeted with open loving arms. Momma Lita's house was always a place where you felt welcomed and loved. She will be dearly missed by all of those who had the pleasure of knowing her, especially her children, grandchildren, and family whom she loved immensely.
Though you are gone, you are not forgotten my beautiful mother. “Mothers are like glue. Even when you cannot see them, they are still holding the family together, either at the beginning or at the end.“
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Pablo Leal, Sr.; and by her parents, Luis Bustos and Guadalupe Vargas Bustos.
Lita is survived by her children Michael Leal, Melissa Ordaz, Trudy Martinez (Miguel), Mary Pauline Atkinson (Rene), Louis B.“Louie” Leal (Marisa), Pablo “Paul” Leal Jr. (Noemi), and Fred Leonel Leal (Leonor); her sisters, Beatrice Tallan and Rosa Martinez; her grandchildren: Alejandro, Antonio, Jacqueline, Taylor, Michael, Miguel, Marco, Alexa, Harley, Carolynn, Madison, Matthew, Nicholas, Natalie, Felicity, Giada, Julie, and Ariana; her great-grandchildren Gabriel, Tony, and Santiago; and by her best friend, Minnie Garcia.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, the 21st of March 2021 between the hours of one o’clock in the afternoon and seven o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to be recited at seven o'clock Sunday night within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at half past one o'clock (1:30 P.M.) in the afternoon on Monday, the 22nd of March 2021 at Saint Luke Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Drive, Brownsville, Texas 78521. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
"During a time like this we realize how much our friends and relatives really mean to us... Your expressions of sympathy will always be remembered.
Sincerely,
Michael, Missy, Trudy, Pauline, Louie, Paul and Fred Leal.
