Fr. Armand Mathew O.M.I., 90, entered into the glory of his eternal life on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at his residence in Brownsville, Texas.
Fr. Armand, a native of France, would have celebrated the 70th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood with the Oblates of Mary Immaculate this year. Fr. Armand was well known and loved in our community having served here in various capacities for quite a number of years.
Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue through 2:00 p.m. in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 25th. Fr. Mathews body will then be transferred to the Auditorium at Immaculate Conception where viewing will resume at 3:00 p.m. and continue through 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. A Funeral Mass of Christian Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26th in the Auditorium at Immaculate Conception. All local services will conclude after Mass on Wednesday and Fr. Mathew will then be transferred to San Antonio where viewing will begin at 6:00 p.m. and a Vigil Service scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28th at the Oblate School of Theology Chapel, 285 Oblate Drive, San Antonio, TX. A second Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, June 29th at 10:00 a.m. at the Oblate Chapel followed by committal services in the Oblate Cemetery located on the grounds of the Oblate School.
