Francisca "Panchita" Muniz Almanza

Francisca "Panchita" Almanza, 90, of Brownsville, Texas, lifetime loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, mother-in-law, and devoted friend entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 14, 2018, at Valley Baptist Medical Center with her loving family by her side.

Francisca was born in January of 1928, in Paige, Texas to Maximino and Epigmenia Muniz Tobias. Panchita spent most of her life in Brownsville, Texas, and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Parish and choir. Panchita supported her family by working at the former Trade Winds Shrimp Processing Company for 27 years. An avid gardener and dedicated mother, Panchita always kept a beautiful green garden and an immaculate home. Panchita was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate enough to have known her.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of Francisca are her eight children: Esmeralda Almanza, Paula (Eliseo) Ybarra, Gustavo (Guadalupe) Almanza, Leticia Almanza, Rosalinda (Juan) Zoleta, Elvira (Ernesto) Infante, Manuel (Cristin) Almanza, and Hector (Anabela) Almanza. She will be greatly missed by her 15 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren along with other extended family members and friends.

Visitation will begin on Thursday January 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. and continue through 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 555 W. St. Francis St. Entombment services will follow in the Mausoleum at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Panchita's sons: Gustavo, Manuel, and Hector Almanza along with her sons-in-law, Eliseo Ybarra, Juan Zoleta, and Ernesto Infante are honored to be serving as Panchita's pallbearers. Oscar Andrade will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Panchita's name, may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 555 W. St. Francis St., Brownsville, Texas 78520 at 542 2709.
