Francisca T. Garza, 92, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt entered the glory of her eternal life on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at her residence in Brownsville, Texas, with her family by her side.
Panchita, as she was affectionately known to all, was born in 1928 in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She was the last surviving child of 14 children born to Guadalupe Rodriguez and Manuel Treviño.
Panchita was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate enough to have known her.
Panchita was preceded in death by her husband, Raul Garza; her parents; 6 sisters and 6 brothers; 1 step-son, Guillermo Garza, and a grandson, Eric Cortinas; and a son-in-law, Sergio R. Gomez.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her are her children: Hector Garza and his wife Mayra, Beatriz Garza, and Rosie Cortinas and her husband Epitacio; 8 step-children: Raul Garza and his partner Jaime, Gracie Gonzalez and her husband Carlos, Berta Castillo and her husband Carlos, Vangie Juarez and her husband David, Katy Quintanilla and her husband Rick, Henry Garza and his wife Yolanda, Mary Gallego and her husband James, and Linda Roberts and her husband Joseph.
Panchita will also be missed by her grandchildren: Pearla Cortinas and her husband Chris, Crystal Cortinas and her husband Clyde, Victoria Martinez and her husband Chris, Beatriz A. Gomez, Sergio Gomez and his wife Viviana, and Ray Cortinas; 5 great-grandchildren: Dezaray, Sophia, and Alice Soto and Raiden and Rylie Gomez along with numerous step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home with a prayer service scheduled for 7:00 PM Tuesday evening. A Chapel service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Hector Garza, Sergio Gomez, Ray Cortinas, Epitacio Cortinas, Eric Castillo, and Clyde Soto are honored to be serving as Panchita’s pallbearers.
Panchita’s family is requesting that all those attending services please wear a mask to ensure everyone’s well being. At this time, we ask that food not be brought in to the funeral home. We thank you in advance for your cooperation with these requests.
