Walter was born in Mercedes, Texas in September of 1926. He was the only child of Frank Walter Duncan Sr. and Charlotte Trousdale. He graduated from Mercedes High School.
Walter served in the United States Navy during WW2 and subsequently graduated from The University of Texas Austin with a BA degree. He married Martha Nicholson and moved to Brownsville where he owned and operated Electric Fixture Supply for more than 50 years.
He was a member, a deacon and a Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church in Brownsville. He was also a member of Gideons International, a Mason and a member of both the Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs.
On June 10th 2017, he passed away peacefully at Valley View Assisted Living and Memory Care. Walter was a devoted Christian and has gone to his eternal home to be with his Lord and Savior.
Walter was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and did his very best to instill the love of the Lord in his family and friends.
He is survived by his children; Andrea Sue Meyners of Georgetown, Texas, Dr. Joy Lunan and her husband Dr. James Lunan of Middlebury, Connecticut, William "Bill" Duncan and his wife Marisela of Brownsville, and David Duncan of Los Fresnos.
He is also survived by his grandchildren; Amanda Meyners Desoto and her husband Fred of Cedar Park, Texas, Sean Meyners and his wife Ginger of Leander, Texas, Crystal Legere, Dr. Brandon Duncan, Andrew Duncan of New York City and Alexandra Duncan. His great-grandson Camden Meyners lives in Leander, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017 at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Buena Vista Burial Park. Military honors will be conducted by the VFW Funeral Honor Guard.
