SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, TX. - Gary Slovisky, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in his home on South Padre Island on Monday, the 29th of April 2024. Born in Akron, Ohio, on January 17, 1954, to the late Joseph and Juanita Slovisky, Gary moved to Rancho Viejo with his family before settling on South Padre Island. He dedicated over fifty years to National Electrical Coil, rising through the ranks to serve on the board of directors.
Beyond his professional achievements, Gary cherished time with loved ones, indulging in wine, and exploring the world with his beloved wife Elaine.
Preceded in death by his late wife Penny Slovisky, Gary is survived by his wife, Elaine Betz Slovisky; his son, Sean (Leticia) Slovisky; stepdaughters Layshauni Campos (Manny), Geles Putzel (Michael), Merry Rodriguez, and Ila Rodriguez; granddaughters, Sofia and Sara Slovisky; six step-grandchildren Jolainey, Everton, Merritt, Evanni, Eleni, and Caelum Campos; his siblings Janet Zanko (Doug), Tim Slovisky (Margaret), and Lynn Noonan (Mark); as well as his nephews and nieces Jodi Doney (David), Kristi Kreiger (Mark), Lisa Noonan, Julie Rottman (Paul), Megan, Brendan, and Kaitlin Slovisky.
Gary's infectious spirit and zest for life (woowoo!) will be dearly missed, but his legacy of joy and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. It truly was great to be Gary.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, the 5th of May 2024 between the hours of three o'clock in the afternoon and nine o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Sunday evening with a Celebration of Life to follow within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
A Liturgical Funeral Service will be held at ten o'clock in the morning on Monday, the 6th of May 2024 at the historic Immaculate Conception Cathedral, 1218 E. Jefferson Street, Brownsville. Interment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel, Brownsville.
Honored to serve as his pallbearers will be Sean Slovisky, Tim Slovisky, Mark Noonan, David M Doney, Dillon Vanderford, and Ken Shoemaker.
