George J. Garcia, 97, of Brownsville, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, and uncle, entered into the glory of his eternal life on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Valley Baptist Medical CenterBrownsville with his loving family at his side.

Mr. Garcia was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. He was a veteran of World War II having served our country proudly in the US Navy. Mr. Garcia worked for several local companies, his last job having been with Sears and Roebuck for 18 years as a truck driver.

In his spare time, Mr. Garcia loved going to the beach to fish and camp out but he especially loved spending time with his family.

He was a faithful Catholic and devoted parishioner first at Our Lady of Guadalupe and then at St. Lukes. Mr. Garcia was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all those fortunate to have known him.

Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his parents, George and Susana Garcia and two sisters: Maria del Carmen Garcia and Esperanza G. de la Rosa.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his loving and devoted wife of 71 years, Lydia T. Garcia his children: George A. Garcia of Mercedes, Olda M. Jim Sulewski, and Inelda Linda Garcia both of Brownsville nine grandchildren, seven greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today, Monday, March 26, 2012 in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. this evening. The Funeral Mass is tentatively scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at St. Lukes Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Drive. Entombment services will follow in the Mausoleum at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Mr. Garcias grandsons: Adrian Garcia, George W. Sulewski, James W. Sulewski Jr., Lucas Garcia and Jay Garcia together with his nephew, Hector de la Rosa are honored to be serving as his pallbearers.

The American Legion Funeral Honor Guard will render military honors prior to entombment.
