George Garza, age 62, a native of Brownsville, TX, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 03, 2014. George was a long time resident of Houston, TX having lived there for 45 years.
George and his wife of 45 years, Rebeca Garza, were married in Brownsville on January 11, 1969. They soon moved to Houston, Texas where he began his career in construction eventually going on to owning a successful business for over 25 years. For the past 10 years, George was employed by Lowes Home Improvement in Sugar Land, TX, where he was a Plumbing Specialist often recognized in the Houston Metropolitan district as a top employee.
George gave his life to the Lord in his midtwenties, and went on to serve God faithfully in his church as a senior Deacon until God called him home. He took great pride in his faith which was evident in his Christian walk and his testimony to whomever he encountered. George often cited Proverbs 3:56, Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and he shall direct thy paths, and Isaiah 40:31, But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength they shall mount up with wings as eagles they shall run, and not be weary and they shall walk, and not faint.
As a member of Heritage Baptist Church, George was instrumental in laying the foundation for their new building and move from Alief, TX to Missouri City, TX over ten years ago.
Georges greatest joy was being a dad until he became a Papa 17 and 13 years ago. George was also anticipating his second granddaughter, Hannah in August of 2014.
George was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Sabas Garza Sr. and Juana R. Garza his maternal grandparents, Feliciano and Guadalupe Saldivar his parents, Sabas Garza Jr. and Maria S. Garza two brothers, Tomas Celia Garza and Jesus Jesse Jaime Garza and a nephew, Robert Robbie Garza Jr.
George is survived by his wife, Rebeca his three daughters, Rebecca Lee Orestes Cavazos, Michelle Elaine Joseph Mondragon, and Katherine Jeannette Garza a grandson, Tristan Isaac George Garza a granddaughter, Graciela Gracie Ariana Garza his siblings: Ricardo Rosalinda Garza, Gloria Nick Gonzlez, Retired Judge Robert Norma Garza, Sabas Sylvia Garza III, Juan Noe Cynthia Garza, Mary Garza Hinojosa, Susana G. Galvan, Noel Betty Garza, Jose Martin Garza, and Jose Guadalupe Garza and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home with a prayer service scheduled at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7th at DarlingMouser. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Georges brothers: Richard, Johnny, Third, Bic, Noel and his soninlaw, Ody are honored to be serving as his pallbearers. His grandson, Isaac, will serve as honorary pallbearer.
At his request, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Rebeca Garza, 2842 Co. Road 549, Rosharon, TX 77583 to establish a college fund for his grandchildren.
