Gilberto Y. Gomez, 86, of Brownsville, entered into eternal rest on December 23, 2007 in Harlingen Medical Center.
Mr. Gomez was born in Millet, Texas to Emilio and Angelita Ybarra Gomez. He was an Army Veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Pedro, Genaro, Reynaldo, Roman and Braulio Gomez and one sister, Delfina Carreon.
He is survived by his wife of 63 yrs, Candida S. Gomez of Brownsville, his children, Gilberto Rosie Gomez of Plymouth, Washington, Arturo Carmen Gomez of Houston, Maria Eugenia Gomez of Brownsville, Juan Alicia Gomez of Houston, Angelica Leo Flores of Brownsville, Jose Angel Corrine Gomez of California and Maria Antonia Balli of Brownsville, his brothers, Sifredo Ybarra of San Antonio and Manuel Maria Ybarra of Castroville, TX, 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, nephew, Emilio Gomez and numerous other nephews and nieces.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, December 26, at 3p.m., with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:30p.m., in the West Chapel of Darling-Mouser. Funeral services will be held at 2p.m., Thursday, December 27, at San Pedro Catholic Church with burial to follow at El Carmen Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the Veterans Funeral Honor Guard Post 43 under the direction of Commander Raul Leal, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Oscar Flores, Omar Flores, Timothy Balli, Stevan Gomez, Pete Munoz and Erik Gomez.
