Gilberto "Gilbert" G Salazar

Gilberto G. Salazar, 52, our beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas surrounded by his loving family.

Gilbert was born and raised in the San Pedro community. He was a lifetime resident of Brownsville. Gilbert served our community for 30 years as a dedicated employee with the Cameron County Sheriffs Department. Gilbert was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known him.

Gilbert is preceded in death by his father, Jose Becerra Salazar and his father and motherinlaw, Norberto A. and Sulema Zarate.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of Gilbert are his loving wife of 23 years, Norma Delia Zarate Salazar his children: Samantha Marie, Gilberto Jr., Juan Pablo, and Sabrina Marie Salazar his mother, Estrella Garcia Salazar his siblings: Jose Salazar, Crispin Belinda Salazar, Esmeralda Louis Boling, Norma Leticia David Vasquez, Linda Salazar, and Reynaldo Michele Salazar his sisters and brothersinlaw: Diana Zarate de la Garza, Noe N. Zarate, Oscar Lupita Zarate, and Patricia Rene Rodriguez and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. today, Friday, June 6, 2014 and continue through 9:00 p.m. in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. this evening. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at San Pedro Mission, 7602 Old Military Road, San Pedro, Texas. Committal will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Gilberts sons, Gilberto Jr. and Juan Pablo, his brothers, Jose, Crispin, and Reynaldo Salazar, and Oscar Zarate, Rene Rodriguez, and Eduardo Salazar are honored to be serving as his pallbearers.

Noe N. Zarate, Louis Boling, and David Vasquez will serve as honorary pallbearers.
