BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Gladys Parra Kaffenberger, 59, of Brownsville, Texas entered into eternal rest on Thursday, the 20th of May 2021 at her residence in Brownsville, Texas surrounded by her family.
Gladys was born on September 2, 1961 in Brownsville, Texas to her parents, Guadalupe C. Parra and Rita Ramirez Parra. Gladys was a hardworking lady and dedicated to her family who meant the world to her and her grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She was devoted to taking care of her youngest sister Katie "Pakie" who is the heart of the Parra family. Her beloved husband Paul of over thirty years was not only her best friend, but also her caregiver and partner for better or for worse, never leaving her side in sickness and in health.
She was preceded in death by parents, Guadalupe C. and Rita R. Parra; and by her brother, Guadalupe Parra, Jr.and her sister, Maria del Refugio “Cuca” Gonzalez (Manuel Gonzalez).
Gladys is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Paul C. Kaffenberger; her two daughters, Katherine Donnalee Kaffenberger (Marcelo Mata) and Ellisa Michelle Kaffenberger; two grandchildren, Perrelli Paul Michael Martin and Vaeda Valkyrie Von Vee Mata; siblings Esther Jones (Johnny), Norma Horsley (Rick), Arturo Parra (Cecilia), Edward Parra, Irma Bixler (Scott William), Vivian Lunan (David), Marie Catherine Parra "Pakie", Sylvia Olguin (Aquiles), and Rosie Parra Halbert (Kelly); mother-in-law, Donna Kaffenberger; son-in-law, Timothy Martin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, the 24th of May 2021 between the hours of one o’clock in the afternoon and seven o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to be recited at seven o'clock Monday night within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at two o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 25th of May 2021 at the historic Immaculate Conception Cathedral, 1218 E. Jefferson Street, Brownsville, Texas 78520. Committal services will follow, via escorted procession, at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville, Texas 78526.
We at Darling-Mouser are adhering to the following safety measures: 100 people within our chapel at any given time; no outside food or beverages are permitted; and masks are required at all times within our funeral home, church, and cemetery.
