Gloria R. Alvarado

BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Gloria R. Alvarado entered into eternal rest on Friday, the 30th of August 2024 in Edinburg, Texas surrounded by her loving family. She was 83 years of age.

Gloria was born in Brownsville, Texas on May 22, 1941, daughter of the late Domingo Ramos and Rufina Vargas Ramos. A devout Catholic, Gloria was an avid parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a longtime general manager of New Yorker, Inc. in Downtown Brownsville, retiring after twenty-five years of dedicated customer service. Gloria was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by those fortunate enough to have known her.

Preceding Gloria in death were her son, Alvaro Alvarado; her parents, Domingo Ramos and Rufina V. Ramos; and her brother, Ruben Ramos.

Survivors include her children Gloria I. Alvarado (Richard Galindo), Gracy A. Rogers (Bob), Adrian Alvarado (Norma), and Ricardo Alvarado; her grandchildren Monica Revuelta, Danielle Alvarado Boone, Mathew Alvarado, Nathan Alvarado, Ricardo Galindo, Joaquin Galindo, Catarina Galindo, Gabriela Galindo, Brendon Rogers, Benjamin Rogers, Victoria Rogers, Mario Munoz, and Rafael Munoz; her great-grandchildren Sophia, Romy, Lucas, Connor, Ronin, Violet, Anne-Marie, Avery, Gavin, Alina, Patricio, Mila, and Abril; and her brothers Roberto Ramos (Lupita), Ramiro Ramos (Estella+), Hector Ramos, and Arnold Ramos (Elida).

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, the 4th of September 2024 between the hours of twelve noon and nine o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Wednesday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. 

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ten o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 5th of September 2024 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1200 Lincoln Street, Brownsville. Interment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville.
