Gloria Elsa Pompa

Gloria Elsa Pompa, 56, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend entered into the glory of her eternal life on Thursday, April 19, 2012 surrounded by her loving family at Spanish Meadows Nursing Home in Brownsville after a lengthy illness.

Gloria, who was born in Matamoros, Tamps., Mexico, had been a resident of Brownsville since 1975. Before her illness, she worked as a realtor and appraiser. Gloria was a member of the Brownsville and South Padre Island Board of Realtors, Texas Assoc. of Realtors, and the National Assoc. of Realtors. She was a parishioner at St. Lukes Catholic Church. Gloria was a wonderful person who gave her all to everyone. Gloria was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all those fortunate to have known her.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Preciliano and Ofelia Mata.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her is her loving husband of 36 years, Gilbert A. Pompa the two daughters that were the light of her life, Lizette Y. Luis Rosales and Lillian M. Lilly Charlie Saldaa Pompa two grandsons: Luis Alonzo and Leonel Alfredo Rosales two brothers: Gilberto Estela Mata and Marcelo Mata four sisters: Nohemi Mata, Maria del Rosario Jorge Carretero, Blanca Efrain Alvarado, and Bertha Alicia Mata and numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012, in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m., on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at St. Josephs Catholic Church, 555 West St. Francis Street, Brownsville, Texas. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Luis Rosales, Charlie Saldaa, Marcelo Mata, Roy Alaniz, Jorge Trevio, and Carlos Martinez are honored to be serving as Glorias pallbearers. Gilberto Mata and Robert Barreda will serve as honorary pallbearers.
