Glory L. Bussey Price, 84, much loved wife, mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2011.
Glory was born in San Antonio, Texas on February 15, 1927 to Charles B. and Vida C. Bussey. With her fathers untimely death soon after, mother and daughter moved to the Rio Grande Valley, first to Brownsville and then to Pharr, where Glory graduated from PSJA. She then attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX, where she met A.W. Tony, the man of her dreams, whom she would marry in 1946. The couple returned to the Valley and later moved to Puerto Rico with their growing family of three children.
With their return to the continental U.S. and her husbands work taking him abroad much of the time, Glory, along with being the church organist at First Methodist Church, became the secretarytreasurer of First Presbyterian Church in Brownsville, a post she would happily hold for 30 years and where she made lifelong friends. While there, she not only filled the role of secretarytreasurer, but, when called upon, also organist, pianist, and childrens choir director, often collaborating musically with her wonderful friend, Ruth Langford.
A person of many talents and interests, being an accomplished musician and seamstress among them, she was, above all, a loving and supportive wife and mother, whose family always came first. The love she gave and the values she instilled in her children have served them well in their lives. She will be profoundly missed by those she leaves behind.
Glory was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, A. W. Tony Price her son, Randall W. Price, and her daughter, Sheila C. Price Lowe. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Greg Price Phelps of Brownsville her grandchildren: Sean Kelly Price of Fort Walton Beach, Fl, Natalie Cowen Ignacio Gonzlez of Sugar Land, TX, Ashley Joe Johnson of Bloomingdale, GA, and Charles, Jackie Hastings of OFallon, MO.
