BrownsvilleIndian Lake, TXGraciela Gavito, 76, passed away peacefully at Sunshine Haven on April 28, 2012.

She was born in Brownsville, Texas to Valentin A. Gavito, Jr., and Consuelo T. Gavito. Graciela attended Villa Maria High School and St. Pauls School of Nursing in Dallas, TX, where she earned her nursing degree. She then dedicated her life to serving the underprivileged in various countries, including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Haiti, and Africa, until 1989. Upon her return to the United States, she worked for Christus Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi, TX. She later moved to Indian Lake, TX, and served as the school nurse for the Point Isabel School District until her retirement in 2005. Graciela was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, and aunt to
numerous nieces and nephews.

Graciela was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Valentin A. Gavito, III and Carlos A. Gavito, Sr., and a sister, Celia G. Cruse.

Graciela is survived by her brother, Juan E. Emma C. Gavito, Sr., and her sisters, Consuelo G. Booth, Amalia G. White, and Lydia G. Brackney.

No memorial services will be held at this time. The family would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and prayers. A special thank you goes to the nurses at Sunshine Haven who cared for her during her final day.

In lieu of flowers, Graciela requested that memorial donations be made to Sunshine Haven, P.O. Box 4478, Brownsville, Texas 78523.
