Mr. Gregorio George Villanueva, 83, our beloved father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, and greatgreatgrandfather, entered into the glory of his eternal life on Friday, September 22, 2012, at Alta Vista Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Brownsville.
George, as he was known to many, was born and raised in San Juan, Texas. He moved to Detroit, Michigan where he lived and worked for close to 50 years. He returned to the Valley and made Brownsville his home after retiring in 1986. George loved working in his garden. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by those fortunate to have known him.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Paula Montes Villanueva a son, Ricardo Villanueva three brothers: Guadalupe, Lazaro, and Valentino Villanueva and two sisters: Florinda Hernandez and Cruz Reyes.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him are his children: Daniel Dan Bonita Villanueva, Diana Curtiss Puckett Arturo Sandra Villanueva, and Irene Villanueva numerous grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, and greatgreatgrandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members, and his beloved dogs, his companions and friends, Cindy Pepe.
Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, September 26th in the West Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. this evening. A chapel service celebrating Georges life will be held at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, September 27, in the West Chapel at DarlingMouser. Entombment services will follow in the Mausoleum at Buena Vista Burial Park.
