Guadalupe Belia Nena Garcia Malone, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 30, 2014 at her home in Rancho Viejo, Texas.
A native of Brownsville, after graduating from Brownsville High School, Nena worked for the US Postal Service, and in 1943 she met and married Pan American Airline Pilot, William Miles Bill Malone, from Macon, MO. A difficult time followed, as her husband served in the Army Air Corps during WW II in Italy and North Africa.
Nena was a devoted wife and mother, moving from Brownsville to Hondo AFB near San Antonio, to Abadan, Iran where Bill worked as a Captain for Iranian Airways. Upon returning to the US, they lived briefly in Austin, and then returned to Brownsville where she remained happily the rest of her life, among family and friends she loved dearly. Nena was well respected as an excellent property manager for apartments and condos. Nena will be lovingly remembered for her vibrant personality, warm hospitality and great cooking. Nena will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Nena was preceded in death by her husband, William Miles Bill Malone her parents, Jos I. and Amparo Garcia two sisters: Niddia Arisman and Rosalinda Cavazos, and two brothers, Dr. Jos I. Garcia Jr. M.D. and Raul Garcia.
Nena is survived by daughter, Nancy Malone Gresham son, William Michael Bill Malone two grandchildren: Wallace Lee Rosie Reed IV and Melissa Diane Hall five greatgrandchildren: Wallace Lee Reed V, Andrew Thomas Reed, William Austin Reed, Benjamin Conner Hall and Summer Jessica Hall a brother, Dr. Reynaldo Angelika Garcia DDS and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended members of the family.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2014, in the East Chapel with the rosary scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening at DarlingMouser. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2014, at St. Lukes Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Drive, Brownsville. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Wallace Lee Reed IV, Lee Reed V, Andrew Reed, Luis Cavazos, Wayo Cavazos, and Edward J. Garcia are honored to be serving as Nenas pallbearers.
Dr. Ray Garcia, Joey Champion, and George Ferraez will serve as honorary pallbearers.
