Hector Trevio Hernandez, 63, beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville surrounded by his loving family and friends.
A native and lifetime resident of Brownsville, Hector was a graduate of Brownsville High School. He was a proud Longhorn having graduated from the University of Texas in 1973 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. He obtained his MBA from the University of Texas Brownsville. Hector was a proud veteran having served his country in the Air Force.
Hector was an Assistant Administrator at Brownsville Medical Center and Hospital Administrator in Laredo, Texas, and due to health reason took early retirement in 1993. Despite his illness, Hector loved spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed watching and listening to his beloved Longhorn and Cowboy football games, the Spurs, and golf. Hector will be deeply missed by all those fortunate to have known and loved him.
For I am already being poured out like a libation, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith.
Hector was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro A. and Ofelia Hernandez, his son-in-law, Paul Jean Tatum, a grandson, Jean-Paul Tatum, and an infant sister, Ofelia Hernandez.
Left behind to eternally treasure his memory is his loving and devoted wife of 39 years, Janice A. Hernandez; his children: Angie Hernandez, Peter and his wife Kimberly, and Sarah and her husband Abraham Alanis; 5 grandchildren: Sasha Tatum, Caitlin Hernandez, Isabella Tatum, Sofia Tatum, and Stevan Hernandez; 1 brother, Jose Enrique and his wife Diana Hernandez; 3 sisters, Graciela and her husband Armando Salazar, Yolanda H. and her husband Hector Solis, and Maria Elena Zakem. Hector will also be deeply missed by his 3 sisters-in-law, his 3 brothers-in-law, and his numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. and continue through 9 p.m. on Monday, October 27, 2008 in the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The recitation of the holy rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday evening at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 in the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside under the direction of District Commander Luis Lucio with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2035.
Hectors brother, Jose Enrique Hernandez, his cousin, Manuel Saenz, his nephew Marcos Saenz, and his good friends, Ruben S. Garcia, Jr., Manuel Ortiz, and Ruben S. Garcia, III are honored to be serving as his pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Peter Hernandez, Abraham Alanis, Hector Solis, Robert Chapa, Robert Saenz, Johnny Balli and Jaime Hernandez.
In lieu of flowers, Hectors family is requesting that memorial gifts in his name be made to the Huntington Disease Society of America, Texas Affiliate, P.O. Box 270261, Flower Mound, Texas 75027 or the donors favorite charity.
The family would like to extend their most sincere appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to Hectors cousin and nurse, Robert Chapa, for the years of tender and compassionate care. We will never forget all that you did for him and for us. May God Bless you always.
