BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Hector Silva entered into eternal rest on Saturday, the 20th of January 2024 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville surrounded by his loving family. He was seventy years of age.
Hector was born on May 23, 1953 in Brownsville, Texas, son of Marcelino B. Silva and Esther Noyola Silva. While in high school, Hector met the love of his life, Teresa, and they wed five years later at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on October 27, 1973. They recently celebrated their 50th anniversary this past October.
Hector worked in farm equipment retailing for over forty-eight years with the International Harvester Company and Case IH Power & Equipment, and owned and operated his business, DCN Parts. He loved spending time with his family and adored his seven grandchildren. Alongside his high school sweetheart Teresa, they traveled across the country through rural areas and numerous cities, sightseeing from the Golden Gate Bridge, Lake Tahoe, the Rocky Mountains, Mount St. Helens, and venturing to Las Vegas every June. An avid sports fan, Hector enjoyed watching his Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs play.
Preceding Hector in death was his son, Hector Silva, Jr.; his father, Marcelino B. Silva; his sister, Nela Silva; his nephews, Abiel Cavazos, Jr., Manuel B. Silva, Jr., and Rick Garcia; his parents-in-law, Julian and Juanita V. Garcia; and his siblings-in-law Blanca Garcia Urbano, Juan Jose Garcia, and Ramon Garcia.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of fifty-years, Teresa G. Silva; his sons, LeRoy Silva (Cristyal) and Kerry Lee Silva (Krystal); his mother, Esther N. Silva; his grandchildren Dominick, Charlene, Nikolas, Natalie, Penny, Jonathan, and Hector Marcelino; his siblings Enedina S. Alaniz (Juan), David (Lily +), Diana Silva, Jesus, Maria, Manuel, Ofelia S. Martinez (Joe), Marcelino Silva, Jr., Noeila S. Garcia (Gonzalo), Noe, Edio, and Sergio; his brothers and sisters-in-law Julian Garcia, Jr. (Lupita), Maria Elena Garcia, Angelita G. Paredes (Alberto), Eduardo Garcia (Alicia), Dolores Garcia, Jose J. Garcia (Otilia), Marta Mercado (Juventino), and Gracie Garcia (Guillermo); in addition to extended family members and numerous friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, the 23rd of January 2024 between the hours of twelve noon and nine o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Tuesday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ten o'clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 24th of January 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1914 Barnard Road, Brownsville. All services will conclude at the church. Cremation will follow.
