He had a lifelong passion for baseball, Christmas, and the Chicago Bears. Although he personally enjoyed playing softball, he was a loyal Lopez High School Lobos baseball and football fan. The 2008 Lopez Varsity Baseball Team honored him by asking him to throw the first pitch of the season and dedicated their opening game to Mr. Vazquez, who had never missed a game, even while battling a courageous fight against cancer. Hector lived and worked for many years in Chicago Heights, IL before returning to Brownsville with his family. He worked for more than eighteen years at Chem Pruf Door Company, starting as a laborer and becoming the plant production manager. brbrHe loved his family and adored his grandchildren. It was his greatest pleasure to support and cheer his children and grandson on in the numerous activities and sports they participated in over the years. Hector was a friend to everyone, a kind, caring, fair and honest man always willing to help others. brbrHe was preceded in death by his father Jose Vazquez Rendon and his brother Mario Vazquez Aguilera.brbr He is survived by his mother, Evangelina Aguilera Vda. de Vazquez of Matamoros; his loving wife of 37 years, Amalia L. Vazquez, who stayed by his side and cared for him until his death; daughters Perla Vazquez, Sonia Norberto Jr. Muoz, and Veronica Vazquez; son Hector Eduardo Vazquez; grandchildren Jacob and Ashley Muoz, all of Brownsville; brother Jose Luis Vazquez Aguilera Maria Isabel of Matamoros; sister-in-law Maria Elena Lopez Vda. de Vazquez of Nuevo Laredo; sister Rosalinda Vazquez de Garay Carlos of Matamoros, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.brbrThe Vazquez family would like to thank Dr. Balesh Sharma and the staff of The South brTexas Cancer Center and Dr. Graciela Leija and her staff, for the care, patience, and consideration they extended to our husband and father. We would also like to thank the personnel of Valley Regional Medical Center, especially the 2nd floor nursing staff, and Odyssey Hospice for their care and assistance.brbrAs per his wishes, he was cremated.
