Helen Ann Mayes

Helen Ann Mayes, 86, of Brownsville, entered into eternal rest on January 1, 2008 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville.

She worked for the City of Brownsville as a clerk at the police department.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen J. Castille, Sr. and Mary Bates Castille, her husband, James A. Mayes, her brother, J. Allen Castille and by a sister, Edith Eve Castille. She is survived by her children, Joann Knapp of McAllen, James A. Mayes, Jr. of Marietta, GA, Jeanette Mayes Bond of Albuquerque, NM, Debra Jacobs of Baytown, Helen P. Lerman of South Lake Tahoe, CA and Cathy Settle of Brownsville, 11 grandchildren and other relatives.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 4, 2008 from 10a.m.to 2:30p.m., with graveside services beginning at 3p.m., at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Pallbearers will be Fritz Settle, Travis, Jason and Kristopher Jacobs.
