Henry Barrientes, 59, entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 8, 2015, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas surrounded by his loving family.
A native and lifetime resident of Brownsville, Henry, was an active member of our community. Henry was a proud graduate of the Class of 1974 at Brownsville High School. After graduation he continued his education at Pan American University in Edinburg. In 1978, Henry joined the family seafood restaurant business serving as the owner/manager of The Oyster Bar in Downtown Brownsville and La Jaiba on South Padre Island. Henry was an avid outdoorsman who recently had taken up gardening and birding in addition to his other outdoor hobbies.
Henry's true passion in life was riding his Harley. He was a founding member of the Hermanos Unidos Motorcycle Club which did a lot of fundraising to benefit numerous local causes. Henry was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, and friend. Henry considered everyone a friend and as such never addressed anyone by their given name but by "Friend"�. Henry was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known him.
Henry is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Emma B. and Robert William Kingsbury; his paternal grandparents, Consuelo "Snookie"� and Justo Barrientes Sr.; and a brother-in-law, Carlos D. Cisneros.
Henry is survived by his parents, Emma K. and Justo Barrientes Jr., his children, Lisa Marie Barrientes and Henry Barrientes II.; his siblings: Diana B. Cisneros, David Barrientes, and Sylvia (Dennis) White; 6 nieces and nephews, 2 great-nieces, 1 great-nephew, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family members.
You may come to pay your respects to Henry starting at 1:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, June 10, 2015, with the family starting to receive friends at 4:00 p.m. The recitation of the holy rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. this evening in the East Chapel at Darling-Moser Funeral Home. All services will conclude this evening and in accordance with Henry's wishes, cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Henry's name may be made to Fishing Locos, 148 Alvarez Ct., Los Fresnos, TX 78566 to benefit Be the Match National Bone Marrow Foundation and/or Kids Gone Fishing, Hooked for Life, 1800 E. Van Buren Street, Brownsville, Texas 78520.
Henry's family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the doctors and nurses in the ICU Unit at Valley Regional Medical Center for the tender and compassionate care provided not only to Henry but to the family while he was in their care.
