Herbert "Herb" Gordon Ames Jr.

Herbert Gordon Ames, Jr., 81, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, brother, and uncle entered into the glory of his eternal life on Monday, February 17, 2014, at Spanish Meadows Nursing Home in Brownsville surrounded by his loving family.

Herb was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert G. Ames Sr. and Margaret H. Ames.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his loving wife of 58 years, Margaret S. Ames two sons: David S. Ames and Herbert G. Glenda Ames III four grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren a brother, Leonard Frances Hall Ames and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 602 East Elizabeth Street in Brownsville. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Military honors will be rendered at the graveside by the American Legion John Hanson Post 43 Funeral Honor Guard.
