Herlinda T. Montalvo, 92, of Brownsville went to be with the Lord on May 02, 2012.
She was born in November of 1919 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Virginio C. and Eva C. Trevino. After graduating from Brownsville High School she attended Brownsville Junior College and later worked as a floor manager for Kress Department Store in downtown Brownsville. It was during this time that she fell in love with Henry Montalvo, whom she married on December 26, 1948. On December 26, 2008, prior to Henrys death, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
In 1960, Herlinda and Henry moved to Brownsville from San Benito so Henry could start his career as a school Administrator while she raised 5 children. Soon thereafter, Herlinda spent many years as a school librarian at Clearwater Elementary.
Herlinda was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Montalvo her parents, Virginio and Eva Trevio her siblings: Richard and Vick Trevio and Crisanta Torres.
Surviving Herlinda are her children: Richard Montalvo, Linda Montalvo Hill, and Sammy Cary Copenhaver Montalvo of Brownsville Sylvia Yvonne Carlos Gonzalez of Austin and Judy Montalvo Ira Selya of Houston. Also surviving Granny are her six grandchildren: Jordan, Sarah, Garrett, Zachary, Leslie, and Steven and greatgranddaughter, Aubriana. She is also survived by her younger sister, Eva Mae Garza, of Brownsville.
The family will greet friends today, Friday, May 4, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. Pastor Bob Ordemann will officiate the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 5th, at DarlingMouser. Committal services will follow at Mont Meta Cemetery in San Benito, TX.
Richard, Sammy, and Steven Montalvo, Jordan and Garrett Hill, Carlos and Zachary Gonzalez and Ira Selya are honored to be serving as Herlindas pallbearers.
The family would like to extend special thanks and gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of Valley Baptist Brownsville for their extraordinary care and compassion.
