Hermelinda Alicia Soto Saavedra

Mrs. Hermelinda Alicia Soto Saavedra, 74, entered into eternal rest at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Soto Saavedra was a strong, passionate Christian that loved Jesus with so much faith. She was a loving mother and role model to her children and anyone fortunate to have known her. She was a woman with a big heart and a contagious smile. She was always willing to help others and dedicated her life to be a mother and friend, but overall, she loved Jesus and followed his steps all her life, even in death. In spite of all her pain, she transferred herself into Jesus with peace and love. She was a brave fighter and God never left her side. God granted her last wish, which was to never lose her mind and remain alert.

Mrs. Soto Saavedra had a beautiful, fairytale-like marriage for 40 years with Ovidio Cardenas. Their love was the definition of love. Their love for each other convinced you that it was true and real and that love does exist..

Her biggest heartbreak was losing her son, Haaron Danilo Cardenas, but with her strong faith she overcame it.

She is welcomed into heaven by her parents Hermelinda Saavedra and Rafael Soto; her brothers, Juanito and Rafita; her son Haaron and her son-in-law, Dr. Oscar Maldonado.

Mrs. Soto Saavedra leaves behind to treasure their memories of her, her son Ariel Cardenas; daughters Yasmin Maldonado and Odra Cardenas; 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many friends and family that will remember her with love.

Mrs. Soto Saavedra's services will be held in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Darling-Mouser Funeral Home, 945 Palm Blvd., Brownsville, TX (956) 546-7111
