Horacio P. Sanchez

With great sadness in our hearts, we are announcing the loss of Horacio P. Sanchez, 87, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle who entered into the glory of his eternal life on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

“Lacho”, as he was affectionately known to all by, was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. He was a proud US Army veteran, having served our country honorably during the Korean Conflict. Lacho was a dedicated employee of the Food Service Dept. with the Brownsville Independent School District. He retired after 34 years of faithful service.

Before his retirement, Lacho, built a room adjacent to his home, creating a small candy store that he catered and enjoyed the company of his customers for 38 years. Before and after his retirement, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed watching cartoons with the kids as well as watching them grow up.

Lacho was preceded in death by his parents: Francisca P. and Pedro B. Sanchez; 3 sisters: Victoria, Ofelia, and Carolina and 5 brothers: Felipe, Antonio, Santiago, Francisco and Pedro Sanchez Jr.

Lacho was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known him.
