Hortencia C. Arellano, 86, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend entered into the glory of her eternal life on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, surrounded by her loving family.
Tencha, as she was affectionately known to all, was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. Tencha was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was an avid Cowboy fan, and everyone gathered at Tencha's, especially on Sunday's during football season. She was a wonderful cook, and loved cooking for everyone. Tencha was the consummate hostess always welcoming everyone into her home. Tencha was a lifetime parishioner at Immaculate Conception Cathedral. All her children attended school at Immaculate Conception and Tencha was a very active member of the school PTA.
Tencha was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known her.
Tencha was preceded in death by her parents. Juanita and Aurelio Cisneros; her husband, Patricio Arellano Sr., her sons: Patricio Jr., Ricardo, and Rolando Arellano; and a step-son, Jose Alberto Arellano.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of Tencha are her children: Julia Christina "Julie" Arellano, Janie (Emilio) Reyes, and Raul "Honey" (Pat) Arellano; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; her siblings: Aurelio Cisneros (Mavis+) Cisneros Jr., Mauro (Carmen) Cisneros, Martha (Dario) Pe�a, and Santiago (Oralia) Cisneros along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2015 and continue through 8:00 p.m. in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The recitation of the holy rosary is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Darling-Mouser. The Funeral Mass will be at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Cathedral, 1218 E. Jefferson St. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Tencha's grandsons: Raul Patricio Arellano, Ricardo Arellano Jr., Beto Cortes, Ed Roeschel, Ivan Sanchez, and Chris Niedwiedz are honored to be serving as pallbearers for their beloved grandmother. Her great-grandsons: Patrick Arellano, Thomas, Niedwiedz, Gavin Overhaug, and Michael Joseph Arellano along with her "special nephew", Juan "Johnny" Arellano Jr. will serve as honorary pallbearers.
