Howard "Trey" Volney Tygrett Iii

Howard Volney Tygrett III Trey spent his last day in this life in the outdoors that he loved with his children, Alice Elizabeth and Ty, playing and walking the sands of South Padre Island, Texas on Christmas Eve Day.

Born in Dallas, Texas May 25, 1970, Trey called Texas, Tennessee, and Georgia home. He graduated from The Webb School in Bell Buckle, TN and Lambuth College in Jackson, TN.

Trey loved life and his family and people in general, particularly the marginalized and disadvantaged. He loved to play the guitar and sing while his children danced. He loved to surprise his wife, Amy, with something special when she least expected it. Trey loved kayaking, hiking and camping. He loved to stop and visit and lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

After marrying Amy Ormes, the couple resided in Clarkston, Georgia, a predominately refugee settlement community outside Atlanta. Trey quickly became involved with refugee issues and last January was sworn in as Mayor of Clarkston. Trey was also the assistant manager at REI in Buford, Georgia.

He will be deeply missed by his family and all those whose lives he knew and touched. His parents, Judy and Howard his wife, Amy his children, Alice Elizabeth and Ty his sister, Carroll and all who loved him, release Trey to become part of all that we know he loved: the moon, the stars, the rivers, the trails, the music, the smiles and laughter of his children and we know that now in all creation we will find Trey everywhere and in every moment that we live.

He was preceded in death by grandparents: Eunice Tutu Jenkins Beene, Howard Volney and Hazel Tygrett, and his brotherinlaw, Dane Ormes.

He is survived by his wife, Amy Ormes his children, Alice Elizabeth, 2 and Howard Volney Ty Tygrett IV, 1 his father, Howard Volney Tygrett Jr., and wife, Linda Tygrett his mother, Judith Beene Myers, and husband, Edwin T. Myers his sister, Carroll Tygrett Bellingrath and husband Edward Bellingrath his niece, Virginia Catherine Bellingrath, his nephew, John Howard Bellingrath his aunt, Susy Franklin his cousins: Jenkins Franklin, and Caroline Franklin his inlaws, Duane and Elizabeth Ormes, and his sistersinlaw, Carla Ormes, Robin Ormes, and Libby Tom Reinert.

A memorial service in Clarkston, Georgia will be announced at a later date.
