Jaime Parra Sr., 80, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, fatherinlaw, uncle, and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life on Monday, November 11, 2013, at Valley Baptist Medical Hospital in Brownsville surrounded by his loving family.
Jaime, a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville, was the owner of Parra Furniture and Loan Company throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Jaime, who attended St. Joseph Academy, was a staunch supporter and advocate for St. Joe. He was very proud to be serving as one of their Board members. St. Joe meant the world to him.
Jaime looked forward to meeting with his buddies, Renato, Oscar, Stephen, Bob, and Tony daily to have breakfast and coffee at El Torito where the problems of the world were solved by this very astute group of men. Jaime was a veteran of the Korean War having served out country honorably as a member of the U. S. Air Force. Jaime was a true patriot and proud Republican.
Jaimes true passion in life was his family. Jaime was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Jaime was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known him.
Jaime was preceded in death by his parents, Florencia and Jose Parra III a sister, Amelia Callas, and his brother, Jose Parra IV.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him are his loving wife of 46 years, Maria Alicia Molina Parra his son, Jaime and his wife Amanda Parra Jr., his daughter, Mary Frances ParraGarza and her husband Steven the grandchildren that he adored: Steven, Jamie, Timothy, Rachel, Madeline, Jared, Thomas several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, November 13, 2013 in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. The Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2013, at St. Marys Catholic Church, 1914 Barnard Road, Brownsville. Military Honors will be rendered after the Mass by the American Legion John Hanson Post 43 Funeral Honor Guard. All services will conclude at that time, and in accordance with Jaimes wishes cremation will follow.
